How and why should I join a committee? Committees are the best way for you to become better networked, distinguish yourself within your field while giving back to APWA and the larger Public Works community. You can join a committee at any time during the year. Most committees "meet" via a conference call once a month, so you can always contact the committee chair to sit in on a call. Committees typically meet in person at the Spring and Fall conferences. APWA has two committee categories:
Technical - focused on refining professional standards. (Example: Traffic, Construction Management, Solid Waste etc.)
Organizational - focused on advancing broader initiatives. (Example: Scholarship, Government Affairs, Diversity etc.)
Why Sign-in on the Website? Signing into the APWA website as member gives you access to additional website pages and resources. For example the Member Directory is only available if you are signed in as a member. Signing in also automatically gives you the member discount on events. You can still register with APWA as a non-member and get a log-in, but it will not give you as much access as a member account, see below.

I'm not a member - can I get a log-in? What are the advantages? You can get a log-in for the website even if you are not a member of APWA. This is an advantage when registering for APWA events as it will pre-fill your registration information, it also allows members to find you in the Member Directory although you won't be able to access this unless you are a member. Registering allows the website to be able to link to your recorded contact information on the committee pages.
I'm registering for an event, how do I get the member pricing? You need to be a member in good standing and be signed into the website (see above for how to reset your log-in info). If an admin is doing the registration for you, then they will need to look up the registered member in the lookup tool within event registration.
