ROI on Sustainable Strategies
Demonstrating the financial return on healthier, more environmentally responsible project investments has been a pressing topic for construction industry. Triple Bottom Line (TBL) – Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA) which looks at strategies through the lens of People, Planet and Profit is a tool to do just that.
Over the years, AE teams have developed methodologies for showing cost benefits of using tangible green building strategies such as high-performance HVAC systems, glazing system, and renewable energy technologies. However, teams always struggle to show the cost benefit of less tangible strategies that might include significant greenhouse gas reductions and create a healthy indoor environment. There are no industry tools and standards which exhibit that cost benefit of such strategies. TBL-CBA provides the life-cycle cost comparisons between various strategies allowing building owners, designers and construction teams to make more informed decisions.
This session will focus on how owners are using TBL-CBA tool to make healthy and sustainable product and strategy choices. The case studies presented will also show how these tools can be deployed to provide insights into the design and construction phases.
With this knowledge, the audience will have an improved understanding about the TBL theory, tools available and its implementation in real-time projects.
