CAEC Pro: Negotiations of Professional Agree ....

Description :

The Contract Administration and Education Committee (formerly CASC) of APWA has been producing quality education since 2001.  Our certificate program has now been re-named as the CAEC Professional Certificate Program.  For more information please visit the CAEC Training page.

CAEC Pro: Negotiating Professional Agreements: From a Consultant's Perspective is the final APWA - CAEC Committee workshop series offered in 2017. Attendees can earn 5 credit hours towards a Certificate of Achievement. In this class, we take a look at properly preparing for negotiations, how negotiations should be approached, and the key considerations affecting both parties.

If you are a Procurement Officer, Project Manager, Contract Administrator, or other project team member, you will appreciate this class!  You will be given a different perspective on the negotiation of professional agreements – the perspective of the firm across the table from you.  In better understanding that firm’s perspective, you should also be able to establish better relationships and outcomes for your projects from the very beginning.

Presentation will include:

  • Understanding contract types – relational versus transactional
  • How qualifications based selection (QBS) drives the perspective
  • Why a firm making a profit is good for your project
  • How expectations at the time of negotiations affect project outcomes
  • How non-reimbursables affect profit
  • How to achieve a fair risk allocation between the parties
  • Appreciating how an agency’s policies can create unintended consequences
  • How legal terms affect pricing
